Description
Total solar eclipse. Illustration showing the path (grey band) of the total solar eclipse on 21st August 2017 and the percentage of the sun obscured in areas that will see a partial eclipse. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes across the Sun as seen from Earth. This eclipse will track across the USA from northwest Oregon to South Carolina. Solar eclipses usually occur less than once a year, and can only be seen from a small area of the Earth's surface.
