Description
Asbestosis. X-ray of the chest of a 78 year old male that has been exposed to asbestos, showing diffuse plaques (light grey areas) in the lungs (dark). These plaques are likely due to asbestosis, a lung disease caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibres, which cause scarring of the lung tissue. This scarring can take the form of calcified deposits known as plaques. There is no cure for asbestosis.
