Description
Arteriograph (angiograph) of the abdominal region of a healthy person showing the blood supply to the kidneys (both are visible on left & right). Arteriography involves the x-ray examination of arteries that have been outlined by prior injection of a radio-opaque contrast medium. The large blood vessel running down the centre of image is the abdominal aorta, which supplies each kidney with oxygenated blood through the renal arteries (branching left & right). The abdominal aorta branches into the l. & r. common iliac arteries, which supply blood to the legs, at bottom of image.
