Description
False-colour arteriograph (angiograph) of the abdominal arteries of a healthy person, showing those arteries supplying blood to the kidneys, spleen & liver. Arteriography is the x-ray examination of an artery that has been outlined by prior injection of a radio-opaque contrast medium. The large vessel running top to bottom is the abdominal aorta (backbone is visible beneath); this branches into the left & right common iliac arteries at bottom, supplying the legs. The renal arteries (to kidneys) branch off the aorta in midddle of image. Above & on right the splenic artery connects with the spleen; to the left is the hepatic artery which supplies the liver.
