Description
Analogue robot snake. Time-exposure image of the analogue robot snake Lampbot 1.0. This robot possesses a triangular head (lower right) and a chain of eight body segments. Its movements are controlled by a device known as a nervous net. It also possesses sensors that allow it to solve problems without any pre-programming. It does this by performing actions which cause it to reach an equilibrium with its environment. This robot and its nervous net technology were designed by Mark Tilden of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, USA.
