Description
MODEL RELEASED. Amateur astronomy. Amateur astronomer uses a Newtonian reflector telescope in his own observatory dome. This telescope focuses light with a mirror which has a diameter of 45 centimetres. Reflecting telescopes are popular because, unlike telescopes with lenses, they do not cause colour distortions (chromatic aberration) in the observed light. It is also easier to make a mirror than a lens of the same size. Photograph of Robert Webb at Sky Ranch Ridge in the Carmel Valley, California, USA.
