Description
Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT). This telescope was built in 1974, and was one of the first large modern telescopes built in the southern hemisphere. Its mirror is 3.9 metres in diameter. It is an equatorially mounted telescope, and is designed to observe the sky in optical and infrared light. The AAT is located at Siding Spring Observatory near Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia, at an altitude of 1100 metres.
