Description
Cumulus clouds. Aerial view of cumulus clouds illuminated by the sun. Cumulus clouds have rounded tops (as seen here), and those associated with rain are generally deep and dark in appearance. Cumulus clouds may form at a frontal system boundary or as a result of thermal cell activity. Commonly they occur at an altitude of between 500 and 1,500 metres (1,500 feet and 5,000 feet).
