Description
Sandhill cranes (Grus canadensis) grooming. This bird is found in wetlands throughout North America. It wades in shallow water using its beak to probe for food, including seeds, berries and insects. It can reach a height of 1 metre and a wingspan of up to 2 metres. Photographed in Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico, USA.
