Description
Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). Krill live in huge swarms. E. superba swarms can be kilometres across and reach densities of 10,000 individuals per cubic metre. Each individual is at most 6 centimetres long. They feed on diatoms. Krill are a major food species for a wide array of oceanic creatures, ranging from small fish such as sardines and herring to blue whales.
