Description
Narrowed heart arteries. Coloured computed tomography (CT) scan of the heart of a 57 year old patient with stenosis (narrowing) of the coronary arteries. The right coronary artery (RCA) and the left anterior descending artery (LAD) have both been narrowed by the build up of fatty deposits (atheroma). Blocking of the arteries could cause a heart attack. Treatment is with either with balloon angioplasty, or a stent to reopen the arteries.
