Description
The main reflector of the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico casts a shadow on the access road beneath it. The 305m diameter reflector is made up of some 38000 aluminium panels. Apart from being the world's largest radio telescope for many years, Arecibo is also known for its use in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI).
