Wright Brothers National Memorial. Satellite image of the area around the Wright Brothers National Memorial (in circle, lower right), North Carolina, USA. This is a monument commemorating the first successful flight in a heaver-than-air machine, made by Wilbur and Orville Wright on 17 December 1903. The monument is an 18-metre-tall granite pylon on top of Kill Devil Hill. It was dedicated in 1932. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 4 September 2002.
