Description
Weathered granite. Light illuminating rocks in the steep headwall of a glacial corrie (cirque). The cracks and fissures in the rock are caused by repetitive freeze-thaw cycles. This type of weathering is known as congelifraction or frost riving. Photographed at Coire an t-Sneachda, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland, in November.
