Description
Water lily pond and sculpture. Victoria amazonica water lilies (foreground) and a water feature sculpture surrounded by assorted plants (background). The water lilies are native to the Amazon, and this pond is in the tropical greenhouse (Victoria House) of an extensive set of landscaped gardens called Giardini La Mortella, located on the island of Ischia, near Naples, Italy. The gardens were established in 1950 by the British composer William Walton and his wife Susana. The design was by landscape architect Russell Page. The water feature ('Bocca') is by the British sculptor Simon Verity (born 1945).
