Description
Voltmeter recorder. Historical illustration of a voltmeter designed to record measurements on a trace made on a rotating cylinder. This device is used to measure voltage. Voltage is the potential difference, also called the electromotive force, measured between two points in a flow of electric current. This design is by E. Meylan and French physicist Jacques-Arsene d'Arsonval (1851-1940). Artwork from 'Electricite' (1911) by Max de Nansouty, part of the 'Les merveilles de la science' series of 1867-1891 by Louis Figuier.
