Paper mill, 19th century. Illustration of industrial washing machines in use at a paper mill. This is the paper mill at Corbeil-Essonnes, on the River Seine, now a suburb of Paris, France. Artwork from volume 1 (1875) of a republication of 'Les Grandes Usines', a multi-volume work on French industry by journalist and author Julien Turgan (1824-1887).
