The violet wood hoopoe (Phoeniculus damarensis) is a species of bird in the family Phoeniculidae. It is found in Angola, Kenya, Namibia, and Tanzania. This insectivorous bird was photographed whilst foraging for insects in the Halali restcamp in Etosha national park, Namibia.
