Description
Valery Fyodorovich Bykovsky (born 1934), Soviet cosmonaut. Bykovsky spent 5 days in space aboard the Vostok 5 spacecraft in 1963, which remains the space endurance record for a solo flight. He was also commander of the space flights Soyuz 22 (1976) and Soyuz 31 (1978). Bykovsky was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union (1963), the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Star, among numerous other awards and medals.
