US Navy divers in a decompression chamber. US Navy divers breathing oxygen in a decompression chamber after returning from a 240 foot (73 metres) dive operation on the sunken civil war-era ironclad ship USS Monitor. The famed warship sank off the coast of Cape Hatteras, USA, during a storm on 31st December 1862. Four officers and 12 men were lost with the ship.
