Description
Two-headed angulate tortoise (Chersina angulata). This is a kind of conjoined (Siamese) twin, which results from the incomplete splitting of an embryo at an early stage of its development. Most animals born with two heads die soon after birth. The angulated tortoise inhabits sandy regions in southern Africa, where it feeds on plants. Photographed in Wellington, South Africa.
