Description
Tungsten filament candle light bulb, with a bayonet cap base. The sealed glass bulb encases a metal filament under an inert gas, usually an argon-nitrogen mixture. Electric current flows through the tungsten filament (melting point of 3410 degrees Celsius), which heats up and glows. The glass used in this bulb is orange. Although protected from the oxygen in the atmosphere, the tungsten metal gradually evaporates, and the filament eventually breaks.
