Description
Starbirth region NGC 2467. This is an active stellar nursery where young stars are being born from clouds of dust and gas (green and red). NGC 2467 is a young star cluster, only a few million years old. The region is also called the Skull and Crossbones, as some resemblance to a skull is seen. This region is located in the constellation Puppis. This image was obtained with the WFI camera on the 2.2-metre ESO telescope at La Silla in Chile. Six different filters were used to produce the image.
