Description
SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft at the ISS. View from the International Space Station (ISS) of the third Dragon cargo capsule from SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies). This capsule was designed and manufactured under NASA's COTS (Commercial Orbital Transportation Services) initiative, set up to encourage private companies to ship cargo to the ISS after the retirement of the shuttle program in 2011. Launched as mission SpaceX CRS-12 on 14 August 2017 from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, the capsule was captured by the space station's Canadarm2 robotic arm and successfully docked with the Harmony module of the ISS on 16 August. The Dragon capsule later successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on 16 September 2017. Photographed by an Expedition 52 crew member on 18 August 2017.
