Solar flare. Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) image showing a solar flare classed as an M-flare. The flare and ejected coronal mass ejection (CME) launches from the western limb of the Sun (lower left). This SDO images was obtained at a wavelength of 304 angstroms (extreme ultraviolet) using the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA). Image obtained on 24 August 2014.
