Description
Schroter's Valley. Apollo 15 photograph of an oblique view of Schroter's Valley on the surface of the Moon, leading from centre right to near centre. The bright crater Aristarchus is to the left of the end of the valley. Aristarchus crater is 35 kilometres in diameter. The head of Schroter's valley, a winding rille (trench-like valley) in the Aristarchus Plateau, is called Cobra's head. The crater to the right of this and Aristarchus is called Herodotus. Apollo 15 was the fourth manned lunar landing mission, launched on 26 July 1971.
