Description
Saturn. Artwork of the gas giant planet Saturn showing its extensive ring system. Saturn is the sixth planet out from the Sun, and is the second largest in the Solar System, after Jupiter. It is a gas giant, mainly comprising hydrogen and helium. It has a diameter of around 120,000 kilometres, just less than ten times that of the Earth. Its rings span almost 300,000 kilometres. They are composed of ice and rock particles. Saturn orbits the Sun at an average distance of just over 1400 million kilometres. It takes 29.5 years to complete one orbit.
