Description
Dish antennae at a satellite communication ground station at sunset. Microwave transmissions are received from satellites, the signal being reflected by the dish and concentrated onto a receiver in the centre of the dish. This type of large dish is used for global communication with data being relayed from one ground station to another through satellites. These geostationary satellites orbit the planet at the same rotational speed as the Earth, thereby maintaining their positions relative to the ground. Photographed near Munich, Germany.
