Description
Red-fronted lemur (Eulemur rufifrons) baby holding on to its mother. This lemur, also known as the southern red-fronted brown lemur, is found in south-western Madagascar and in a small range in eastern Madagascar. It feeds on leaves, seeds, fruit, nectar and flowers. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Female lemurs raise a single baby, usually weaned within a few months. Photographed in the Kirindy Deciduous Forest, Madagascar.
