Description
Queen hornet. High-speed insect-eye view of a queen hornet (Vespa crabro) falling from a flower on a petal. The hornet is the largest of the wasp family. Hornets are social insects, living in wood pulp nests in tree hollows, ruled by a queen. They have a reputation for being aggressive, although they only sting when provoked. The sting contains a mixture of nerve stimulants which causes severe pain and inflammation.
