Description
Polarised light micrograph of fibres of nylon. Nylon is a generic term for various synthetic fibres having a protein-like structure. They are formed by the condensation between an amino group of one molecule and a carboxylic acid group of another. In addition to being used to make fabrics, nylon is also used to make ropes and some medical prosthetic products. Magnification x12 at 35mm size.
