Description
Pneumatic messaging system. Historical artwork of the dispatch room of a pneumatic capsule pipeline (PCP). Messages are sent and received along the pipes seen at lower centre. They are propelled by the force of air moving along the pipe from storage reservoirs. This technology has been used since the 19th century to transport mail, cash receipts and numerous other products. Taken from the L'Illustration Journal Universel, 1873.
