Description
Ozone hole discoverers. The three British scientists that discovered the hole in the ozone layer, with an instrument of the sort used to make the discovery. From left: Joe Farman, Brian Gardiner and Jon Shanklin. They published their discovery in Nature in May 1985. The instrument is a Dobson ozone spectrophotometer, used to determine stratospheric ozone concentrations. Photographed in 2003-4 at the British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge, UK.
