Description
Organic tomatoes. Rows of organically-grown tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum) in a greenhouse. Organic farming is that which excludes the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides and genetically modified (GM) crops. This is done to ensure the food is not chemically contaminated in any way, and that the immediate environment is not harmed. Tomatoes are a source of vitamins A, C and E, and the mineral potassium.
