Description
Orbital maintenance platform (OMP) in low Earth orbit, illustration. This OMP is intended to be crewed for maintenance and repair of satellites and spacecraft. Designed in the style of an International Space Station (ISS) module, it includes a robotic arm. It would be self-propelled and reusable. It is 13.7 metres long and 5.5 metres across. The cylindrical component is 8.5 metres long and includes a multi-thruster propulsion system. The upper pressurized component includes a windowed cupola to allow the crew to remotely operate the tools. Hatches allow extra-vehicular activities (EVA) should astronauts need to work outside the OMP.
