Description
Optical coherence tomography. Scientist using an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanner. This instrument is most often used in medical imaging. It is able to evaluate the microstructure of human tissue by providing two-dimensional, cross-sectional and real-time visualisation to a depth of 1-2 millimetres. It works by reconstructing images made from light transmitted and scattered through an object. Photographed at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, England.
