Description
Radiographer preparing a patient for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scan. The subject's head is surrounded by the large coils of the scanner's magnet; the smaller device above the subject's head is a radio frequency receiver. MRI is a diagnostic technique that provides revealing imagery of tissues & organs within the body. It is of special value in resolving the nervous tissue of the brain and spinal cord & in locating related diseases. In addition, MRI is used for in vivo spectroscopy, a type of on-line chemical analysis of body tissues.
