Description
Moon from the International Space Station. Gibbous Moon seen above the haze of the Earth's atmosphere (blue) from the orbiting International Space Station (ISS). The Moon has a diameter of 3475 kilometres, and orbits the Earth at a distance of around 385,000 kilometres. The ISS orbits at an altitude of around 350 kilometres above the Earth. This photograph was taken on 28 March 2016 by Expedition 47 Flight Engineer, British astronaut Tim Peake of the European Space Agency. It was shared with his followers on the social media site Twitter.
