Description
Monica Mary Grady (born 1958), British space scientist. Grady specialises in meteoritics, the study of meteorites. She is Professor of Planetary and Space Sciences at the Open University, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, UK. Here, she is holding a meteorite thought to have come from the asteroid 4 Vesta. Grady gave the 2003 Royal Institution Christmas Lecture ('Voyage in Space and Time'). Asteroid 4731 Monicagrady (discovered 1981) was named in her honour. In 2012, she was appointed CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire). Photographed in 2008.
