Description
Moissant brothers, US aviators, in an aeroplane. At right is John Bevins Moisant (1868-1910), who, with his brother Alfred, formed the flying circus known as the Moisant International Aviators. John began flying in 1909, and flew across the English Channel in August 1910. He formed the flying circus later that year, and he and his brother began to tour the USA, winning competitions and prizes. John was killed on 31 December 1910, thrown out of his aircraft by a gust of wind as he attempted to land while practicing for another competition. Photograph from the Bain News Service.
