Description
Milky Way gamma-ray bubbles. Computer illustration of two gamma-ray-emitting bubbles (pink) extending above and below the plane of the Milky Way at the galactic centre. These features span 50,000 light years but their origin and nature are not fully understood. It is thought they may be the remnant of an eruption from a supersized black hole at the centre of the Milky Way.
