Description
Margaret Bryan (fl. 1815) was a British natural philosopher, educator, and author. Born probably before 1760, Bryan was a talented teacher. In 1797 she published a Compendious System of Astronomy , with this portrait of herself and two daughters as a frontispiece. In 1806 she published Lectures on Natural Philosophy (thirteen lectures on hydrostatics, optics, pneumatics, and acoustics), and in 1815 she produced an Astronomical and Geographical Class Book for Schools .
