Description
Magnesium-acid reaction. Magnesium ribbon reacting with an acid in a test tube. This is an example of a metal-acid reaction. The reaction proceeds vigorously due to the high reactivity of the magnesium, producing large amounts of heat and some vapour and steam. The products of the reaction are a magnesium salt (depending on the specific acid used) and hydrogen gas (seen as bubbles).
