Description
Ovarian adenocarcinoma. Light micrograph of a section through a human ovary affected by adenocarcinoma. The cancerous cells are seen growing in irregular shapes with large nuclei. This is in contrast to the regular cell growth of the stroma cells (at upper left) which make up the body of the ovary. Adenocarcinoma is a malignant epithelial tumour arising from glandular structures (such as the ovary) or a tumour that grows in a glandular growth pattern. Ovarian cancer is most common in women over the age of 50 and is treated by the surgical removal of the affected area. Haematoxylin and Eosin stained cells. Magnification: x100 at 35mm size.
