Uterine adenocarcinoma. Coloured Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of adenocarcinoma cancer in the endometrium of the human uterus. The endometrium is the uterine lining. Here its surface epithelial cells are seen (yellow), with many cavities forming the openings of uterine glands. Adeno- carcinoma cells are large (green) & proliferative, invading the uterus surface and its glands. Endometrial adenocarcinoma is the most common cancer of the uterus which usually occurs in post- menopausal women. Tumour cells can spread rapidly. Treatment may include surgery and anticancer drugs.
