Description
Lung cancer cells. Light micrograph of malignant cancer cells seen in a sample of lung tissue from a bronchial brush sample. These are squamous cells that line the bronchial airways of the lungs. Here they have lost their regular squamous cell shapes. The cell nuclei (dark blue) are greatly enlarged, a characteristic of cancer cells. Cancers of the bronchi are the most common form of lung cancer. These cells can invade surrounding tissue and spread through the body via the lymphatic system. Anti-cancer drugs & surgery will be the required therapy. Papanicolaou stained cells. Magnification: x63 at 35mm size.
