Differential interference contrast (DIC) light micrograph of Lepocinclis acus. micrograph shows the paramylons of Lepocinclis acus, which are tube-like structures that are used as power reserves. They are produced by the photosynthesis process. A red eye spot known as stigma helps the cell swim toward favourable conditions. Magnification: x400 when printed at 10 centimetres wide at its longest edge.
