Description
Iridium flash in the night sky over a beach. Iridium flashes, or Iridium satellite flares, are caused by the reflection of sunlight from one of the aluminium antennae on an Iridium communications satellite. The antennae are set at an angle from the axis of the satellite and reflect sunlight to Earth at certain times during an orbit. The satellite is one of the network of Iridium communications satellites that orbit the Earth.
