This company was formed in 1911 by a merger between the US company founded by Adolphus Busch in 1898, and the Swiss company founded by the Sulzer Brothers in 1834. Diesel engines were developed in the 1890s. This photograph is courtesy of the Diesel Engine Company. It was published in 'The Epic of Industry' (1926), volume 5 of 'The Pageant of America A Pictorial History of the United States'. This was a 15-volume series that commemorated 150 years since the founding of the USA in 1776.
