Description
Horse jump. High-speed photographic sequence of a rider jumping a hurdle on a horse (Equus caballus). The sequence was made by the British- American photographer Eadweard James Muybridge (1830-1904). The jump runs from left to right from top left. Muybridge pioneered the use of high-speed photography and employed novel techniques to analyse animal and human locomotion. He began his work on high-speed photography when he was commissioned to discover whether galloping horses have all of their feet off the ground at certain times. He proved that they did.
